I never had to think this way as a documentarian in America. I knew this was a thing in Iran and Russia but never thought I'd have to deal with it over here. I sometimes feel like a pothead that's read too much on reddit but these new headlines and events are very real and are happening quickly.

The Whitehouse now controls what news outlets are allowed in the White House, we replaced the heads of the FBI, CIA and other organizations with his cronies. Protesting is no longer legal. We swapped our allies in Europe with the other dictators in Russia. If you’ve read a little bit of history it’s becoming more and more clear that a slow moving coup is happening and if we don't stand up soon then we’ll be living under a full blown dictatorship.

We’re tired, dealing with our own issues, lost in doom scrolling, scared but this is our moment and if we don't take it now then we might not have another chance. The things you don't think matter do. We stopped him before lets do it again.

Famous writer @shteyngart had a botched circumcision in the Soviet Union as a child. As an adult, he had another surgery to alleviate the symptoms. This was also botched. He makes light of it all in this short existential funny documentary I had the pleasure of shooting. It premieres at Woodstock next week and playing at docNyc in November. Get your tickets now!

Exactly 4 years after the pandemic began, our dark comedy documentary, has dropped on Amazon, Google and Apple.

At the begining of the pandemic, we started filming in a funeral home dealing with too many covid bodies. We found Ray, a 75 year old lonely funeral director looking for love on Tinder and Omar, a funeral director personally handling his own father’s body. The first days were scary but quickly the characters humor and dignity shined through. They taught me that humor is a tool to get through hard things. Humor can be amazing medicine.

It was important to me that our characters saw the film before the release. They did, loved it and now have the film as a living testament to their beautiful work during those strange times.

It was an amazing journey from premiering at @sheffdocfest , going to @idfafestival for docs for sale, and now the digital release. Please watch. These characters changed my life. I think you’ll love them. 💚
